Ryan blasts Obama

Report: Hillary Ignored Warnings

13 Sep 2012

Today, the Independent is reporting shocking details about the attack on the Libyan consulate that resulted in the death of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. The details are so explosive that they will result in a Congressional investigation. In fact, they’re so explosive that they should result in the resignation of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The only question now: What did Hillary Clinton know, and when did she know it?

Yesterday, we reported that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was responsible under the law for the “security policies and programs that provide for the protection of all US government personnel … on official duty abroad.” Clinton herself seemed bewildered by the attacks on the Libyan consulate, asking, “How could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?”
But according to the Independent, she had no reason to be puzzled. Quoting senior diplomatic sources, the paper reports, “the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted.” Nonetheless, “no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and ‘lockdown,’ under which movement is severely restricted.”

It gets worse. According to security sources, the State Department had greenlit a “health check” at the consulate I preparation for 9/11. Nonetheless, the attackers broke the perimeter within 15 minutes of the Libyan mob forming. Local guards did nothing. One witness reported, “The security people just all ran away and the people in charge were the young men with guns and bombs.” According to sources, the Ambassador died from smoke inhalation after he was trapped in a building set on fire and besieged by rioters.

READ MORE

Paul Ryan Blasts Obama Over Weak Foreign Policy

13 Sep 2012

If you thought for one nanosecond that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan were going to wither in the heat of the savage media assault launched against Romney after his statements about the Barack Obama Administration’s apology to the Islamists yesterday, think again.

This is not the John McCain campaign in 2012, hampered by its leader’s ineffectual approach. Paul Ryan stood up in Owensville, Ohio yesterday and lambasted the Obama Administration:

The administration sent mixed signals to those who attacked our embassy in Egypt, and mixed signals to the world. I want to be clear; it is never too early for the United States to condemn attacks on Americans, on our properties, and to defend our values. That’s what leadership is all about.

Ryan continued going on the offensive:

Undercutting allies like Israel, outreach to enemies like Iran, national security leaks and devastating defense cuts. A weak America breeds insecurity and chaos around the world. The best guarantee of peace is American strength. And peace through strength will be the Romney/Ryan foreign policy of this country.

Some of the more, shall we say, spineless Republicans criticized Romney for his remarks about Obama, but Ryan was having none of it. The same man who steamrolled Obama at the health care summit in 2010 isn’t about to give an inch just because the media is on the attack.
Nope. This isn’t 2008. This time we have two candidates who are unafraid of a fight.

SENIORS LOVE RYAN: WAPO/ABC POLL KILLS DEM NARRATIVE

22 Aug 2012

Ten days after the selection of Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's national and swing state poll numbers have all trended up. Yep, thanks to a near-flawless VP roll-out, the Romney-Ryan ticket has not only made up the ground Romney lost after six very tough weeks on defense, but in the crucial swing states, Team Romney is in the best shape they've ever been in. Therefore…

The media, obviously, is worried -- especially due to the Romney-Ryan decision to go on offense over Medicare -- a tactical move that has been very successful in calling attention to a fact the media would prefer not to report: That Obama raids nearly three-quarters of a TRILLION dollars from Medicare to pay for the forever-unpopular ObamaCare.
So the media-march has been on to declare the Ryan pick something of a flop and to downplay the energizing effect the Congressman from Wisconsin has had on the GOP base and the electorate in general (for example, photos of the massive crowds the Romney-Ryan ticket draws can only be found in New Media). The Obama campaign and its media minions have also sought to terrify seniors into believing Ryan is some sort of Medicare Murderer, eager to toss old people out in the cold to pay for the one-percents' tax cuts.
Fortunately, old doesn’t equal dumb: [emphasis added]
A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows 41 percent of Americans view the new GOP vice presidential nominee favorably, while 37 percent rate him unfavorably — slightly improved from last week’s polling.
Among seniors, though, the numbers are even better for Ryan: 50 percent favorable and 35 percent unfavorable. Fully one-third of seniors say they have a strongly favorable view of the Wisconsin congressman, while one-quarter have a strongly unfavorable view.
The numbers suggest Democrats’ attempts to turn Ryan’s Medicare proposal against the GOP haven’t stuck yet among the most pivotal group: seniors. If a Medicare attack was working, after all, seniors would likely be the first group to start deserting Ryan. …
Democrats initially hailed Ryan’s selection as a game-changer in senior-heavy districts and states like Florida, and they’ve been pushing hard the message that it would “end Medicare as we know it” and could lead to an additional $6,000 in out-of-pocket costs for seniors (without specifying that it’s future seniors, of course). Biden: We 'Created 200,000 Brand New Good-Paying Jobs'

22 Aug 2012

Mensa Joe Biden, who has been exiled to solid-blue states where he can do the least damage, said in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday that Mitt Romney and his allies “sound like squealing pigs”:

In spite of that, in spite of Governor Romney’s insistence to let Detroit go bankrupt, we rescued the automobile industry, saved a million jobs and created 200,000 brand-new good paying jobs. Over the objection – though they sound like squealing pigs – over the objections of Romney and all his allies, we passed the toughest Wall Street regulations in history, turning Wall Street back into the allocator of capital it always has been and no longer a casino, and they want to repeal it.
First Mensa Joe said Romney would put people back in chains; now he visits a farm state and calls Romney a squealing pig. The man has a snake-like way of darting his venomous tongue at the most opportune moments.

As for Mensa Joe’s specious argument that Obama saved a million jobs, and created 200,000 “brand-new good paying jobs",  perhaps someone could remind him of these hard facts: in January 2009, when the Anointed One took office, unemployment was 7.6%, it is now 8.3%; as the Wall Street Journal has noted, "there hasn't been one day during the entire Obama presidency when as many Americans were working as on the day President Bush left office."

Total jobs today are 500,000 less than in January 2009 when Obama entered office; fewer workers are being hired now than during the average recession month between 2007 and 2009; and America has suffered 42 straight months of unemployment over 8%, which the Joint Economic Committee of Congress confirms is the worst recovery from a recession since the Great Depression. The number of unemployed Americans has risen over the last 3 months by 76,000 people.
So, to borrow Biden’s technique of using metaphors, the best way to size up Mensa Joe’s lying while making appearances in a prairie state like Minnesota would be thus: he’s a snake in the grass.

Democrats in Desperation! Why?

The Distraction Defense: Democrats, Media Desperate to Change the Subject

20 Aug 2012

The surest sign that Democrats know they are in trouble after Paul Ryan's nomination to the Republican presidential ticket behind Mitt Romney is the desperation with which they are trying, desperately, to steer the conversation away from the economy, entitlements, and the Constitution--with the help of the media, of course. This is the substantive debate that President Barack Obama always said he was ready for, and which the media always calls for in high-minded tones, but once it is here they are suddenly trying to change the conversation.

The latest distraction is a side show in the Missouri race for U.S. Senate, where Republican nominee Todd Akin attempted to defend his opposition to abortion and made the ridiculous statement that the female body has a way to prevent conception in cases of "legitimate rape." He later retracted, as he ought to have done. There is room for diversity in the GOP of views on the moral aspects of abortion; there's no room for disagreement on the questions of whether rape is ever welcome or how babies are made. In Newsweek Magazine

Niall Ferguson: Obama’s Gotta Go

Why does Paul Ryan scare the president so much? Because Obama has broken his promises, and it’s clear that the GOP ticket’s path to prosperity is our only hope.

I was a good loser four years ago. “In the grand scheme of history,” I wrote the day after Barack Obama’s election as president, “four decades is not an especially long time. Yet in that brief period America has gone from the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. to the apotheosis of Barack Obama. You would not be human if you failed to acknowledge this as a cause for great rejoicing.”
Newsweek
Despite having been—full disclosure—an adviser to John McCain, I acknowledged his opponent’s remarkable qualities: his soaring oratory, his cool, hard-to-ruffle temperament, and his near faultless campaign organization.
Yet the question confronting the country nearly four years later is not who was the better candidate four years ago. It is whether the winner has delivered on his promises. And the sad truth is that he has not.
In his inaugural address, Obama promised “not only to create new jobs, but to lay a new foundation for growth.” He promised to “build the roads and bridges, the electric grids, and digital lines that feed our commerce and bind us together.” He promised to “restore science to its rightful place and wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost.” And he promised to “transform our schools and colleges and universities to meet the demands of a new age.” Unfortunately the president’s scorecard on every single one of those bold pledges is pitiful. Madicare...Ryan...Assange...We Built That!

In Florida, Ryan Goes All In on Medicare

With mom at his side, Ryan hits Obama’s Medicare rationing board, makes positive case for reform.

2:05 PM, Aug 18, 2012 • By JOHN MCCORMACK
The Villages, Fla.
“This is my mom Betty,” vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan said as he took the stage at a campaign rally with his 78-year-old mother in Florida’s largest retirement community. “She's why I'm here,” Ryan continued. “She and her grandkids are why I'm here.”
ryan with mom
Associated Press/Phelan M. Ebenhack
On the campaign trail this week, Ryan’s discussion of Medicare has focused on President Obama’s taking $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare, along with brief reassurances that he and Mitt Romney will protect the program. But in Florida today, Ryan put Medicare front and center. He both stepped up his attacks on Obamacare’s plan to change Medicare for current seniors and made a positive case for reforming the program for Americans under the age of 55. Ryan warned that Obamacare installed a board of bureaucrats that will “cut Medicare in ways that will lead to denied care for current seniors.” And he framed his case for reform in terms of family values—in terms of his own obligation to protect Medicare as it is today for his mother, and to reform it in his generation so that his children will benefit from a social safety net and a debt-free nation.
Ryan began his remarks on Medicare by making the issue personal rather than abstract. “Like a lot of Americans, when I think about Medicare it's not just a program. It's not just a bunch of numbers, it's what my mom relies on,” Ryan said. “You know, my grandma moved in with us, with my mom and me, when I was in high school. She had advanced Alzheimer's. My mom and I were her two primary care givers.”
“You learn a lot about life,” Ryan said. “You learn a lot about Alzheimer's. And Medicare was there for our family, for my grandma when we needed it then. And Medicare is there for my mom while she needs it now. And we have to keep that guarantee.” Read More

'We Did Build It': Small Business Owner Taunts Obama Motorcade

18 Aug 2012

On a beautiful August day when most people are enjoying the weather and leisure time, self-made man Al Letizio organized a protest against the President of the United States.

This New Hampshire businessman set up signage outside his business to let Mr. Obama know that in America, the free market still works and small businessmen aren't obligated to grovel on bended knee to thank the federal government for allowing them to exist.
Al Letizio owns a small food service business that just happens to be situated along President Obama’s motorcade route to his rally in New Hampshire today. Mr. Letizio, like so many other small business owners across the country, is annoyed at the President's infamous, off-prompter declaration that business owners in America "didn't build that." In fact, it's quite the opposite. The federal government is funded by people like Mr. Letizio.
Check out these pictures from earlier today as Mr. Letizio hung a “We Did Build It” sign on his storefront as Obama drove by, with Romney supporters cheering him on.
"You didn't build that" is fast becoming the seminal moment that has encapsulated the Obama presidency. President Obama branded himself that day in Virginia, and as much as he tries to run from the revealing remarks, the American people know exactly what he meant.  Read More

Are we in Bankrupcy already? Is the Obama-Biden plan the right track?

The Obama Bankruptcy

Aug 17, 2012 • By IRWIN M. STELZER
The end of Medicare and Medicaid as we know them—through reform, the Ryan way, or -bankruptcy, the Obama way. The direction of the country—via the Romney-Ryan right track, or the Obama-Biden wrong track. Those are the choices, made stark by the addition of Paul Ryan to the Republican ticket.
Barack Obama
Anyone who thought that the selection of Paul Ryan would force the president and his team to abandon purely negative campaigning had better think again. The presence of Ryan on the ticket has merely changed the target of Obama’s negative campaign from Mitt Romney’s performance at Bain Capital to Paul Ryan’s plans to make sense of our fiscal condition and preserve Medicare, unchanged for those 55 years old and over, reformed for other Americans. The Obama campaign remains stuck on negative, claiming that Ryan would destroy Medicare and Medicaid “as we know them.” How Obama would preserve these programs “as we know them” remains a deeper secret than his well-publicized cyberattacks on Iran. The simple fact is that existing entitlements, gobbling ever-larger portions of our GDP, cannot survive “as we know them.”
I am reminded of a wonderful scene in an Elaine May movie (A New Leaf) in which Walter Matthau’s attorney is trying to explain to him that he has squandered his entire huge inheritance. To which an uncomprehending Matthau, waving a check that has bounced, replies that his check must be honored, a position he maintains despite his lawyer’s repeated explanation that, having spent more than the income from his inheritance for many years, he has no more capital: “You don’t have any money.”
President Obama certainly cuts a more elegant figure than the late, rumpled Walter Matthau, but he, too, has no money to back his spending plans. Which is why the Democrats are sticking to their negative campaign rather than saying just how they propose to save these entitlements as we know them. Matthau solved his problem by marrying an extraordinarily wealthy heiress; Obama has solved his problem—our problem—by borrowing almost 40 cents to cover every dollar he spends. That can’t go on, and won’t be solved by soaking the rich: Squeeze them dry and he won’t affect the rounding error in his deficits. Read More

NBC, CBS, ABC Lead Evening Broadcasts with Romney Tax Returns, Again

17 Aug 2012 at Breibart

On Thursday, the FBI revealed that the man who shot a guard at the Family Research Council's Washington, D.C. building had 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches in his bag, worked for an LGBT organization, told his parents he had  "strong opinions with respect to those he believes do not treat homosexuals in a fair manner," and uttered, "I don't like your politics" before opening fire. FRC President Tony Perkins accused the Southern Poverty Law Center, which had labelled the FRC a hate group, of giving the shooter "license" to carry out his actions.

Further, rumors were swirling that President Barack Obama would replace Vice President Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton. These rumors became more intense in light of a litany of gaffes by Vice President Joe Biden, the most prominent of which was when he told an audience in which half the attendees were black in a Virginia city known for its history of racial tension that Republicans were "gonna put y'all back in chains."
One would think the mainstream media networks would have struggled over which of these two significant stories they would lead their Thursday evening broadcasts with.
Yet, since these two stories hurt Obama, the evening broadcasts of NBC News, ABC News, and CBS News (all three!) led with stories about Romney's tax returns, further proving that the mainstream media, far from being the neutral arbiters they so desperately claim to be, wears the same jersey as the Obama campaign.
