I am Catholic and I truly respect every individual right to a personal religious believe. I just want to stress out that we are mostly attacked for not being open, liberal and progressive enough to go with the flow.

There are some religious organizations that already have everything the left, progressives and liberals asked for: 

Many want the Catholic Church to be progressive thus be more inclusive ... those who think this way are not true Catholics. As the church whose values ​​are immutable because they were established by Jesus and the tradition of the Church, we progress intellectually within the specified set of values. It is very tough to stick to these values and be Catholic but it is what keeps us tied, together. If you seek more inclusiveness in our church, LOVE is the word and we are full of it. Get to know us. However, everyone has multiple choices and there are plenty of offers; I am in full freedom to go to them and accommodate my beliefs to values ​​more convenient ... so we are in a free "Market".

If we used the logic of those who say we must change, WHY "Inclusive" Protestant Churches are loosing so many followers. WHY?
The best examples are the Episcopalians, Anglicans United States. In ten years have lost 30% of his parishioners. A third of its parishes meets less than 40 people for making a single liturgical celebration on Sunday. Cathedrals are empty and parishioners are looking elsewhere. 

 
If things go according to the apparently overwhelming logic that people use, the Episcopalians, among others, should have temples overflowing and masses of parishioners. They have married priests, since 1930 accepted contraception, since 1976 have priestesses, since 1989, bishops, since 2000 ceased to consider adultery a sin, and in 2003 ordained a gay bishop living with a partner; in 2006 accepted gay marriage; in 2010 ordered a lesbian bishop active and, of course, are pro-abortion. They have, therefore, everything every religious ordained or lay people and, theologians and, wildly progressive Catholics, ever wanted,  BUT there are no parishioners. I ask again, Why? 

The answer to this question was given, bravely, by the Pope at a meeting in Erfurt (Germany) with key Lutheran leaders of their country. "Because OUR desire to approach the world our way, going away from God, HIS word, HIS message..."

Panic: Obama Campaign Already Coming Off the Rails

It's only Tuesday, but it has already been a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad week for the Obama campaign. Saddled with increasingly bad economic data, the campaign has been doggedly trying to change the subject to anything other than jobs and deficits. We've been treated to a mythical GOP "war on women", a "debate" on birth control, a "road to Damascus" moment on gay marriage, an "expose" of Romney "bullying" in high school, and the burning question of who is a better pet owner. Unfortunately for Obama and his allies in the media, none of it is working.

Yesterday's CBS/NYT poll makes it very clear that voters care about only one thing: The Economy. The only other issues that registers in the double-digits? Government spending and deficits--not exactly a winning issue for Obama. Not only do voters not care about the social issues Obama and the media are fixated on, there are signs that focus is backfiring. The biggest shift in voter sentiment in the CBS poll was among women, who, in just one month, shifted their support from Obama to Romney. In April, Obama had led Romney by six points among women. Today, women prefer Romney by two points.
More troubling for the White House is that 67% of registered voters believe his "conversion" on gay marriage, which sent coastal hearts aflutter, was based solely on politics, rather than any personal conviction. This is damning for a politicians whose meteoric rise was based largely on his being "above" politics. It is an Exocet missile to his entire political narrative. Read More

Solar Eclipse this Weekend

May 15, 2012: Something strange is about to happen to the shadows beneath your feet.
On Sunday, May 20th, the Moon will pass in front of the sun, transforming sunbeams across the Pacific side of Earth into fat crescents and thin rings of light.¹ It's an annular solar eclipse, in which the Moon will cover as much as 94% of the sun. Hundreds of millions of people will be able to witness the event. The eclipse zone stretches from southeast Asia across the Pacific Ocean to western parts of North America: animated eclipse map.

In the United States, the eclipse begins around 5:30 pm PDT. For the next two hours, a Moon-shaped portion of the sun will go into hiding. Greatest coverage occurs around 6:30 pm PDT.
Because some of the sun is always exposed during the eclipse, ambient daylight won't seem much different than usual. Instead, the event will reveal itself in the shadows. Look on the ground beneath leafy trees  for crescent-shaped sunbeams and rings of light.

Near the center-line of the eclipse, observers will experience something special: the "ring of fire." As the Moon crosses the sun dead-center, a circular strip or annulus of sunlight will completely surround the dark lunar disk. Visually, the sun has a big black hole in the middle.
The "path of annularity" where this occurs is only about 200 miles wide, but it stretches almost halfway around the world passing many population centers en route: Tokyo, Japan; Medford, Oregon; Chico, California; Reno, Nevada; Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lubbock, Texas. In those locations the ring of fire phenomenon will be visible for as much as 4 and a half minutes. Read more

Gene Gregory and Wayne Pacelle are the odd couple of American agriculture.
"We were adversaries. Some might say bitter adversaries," says Pacelle, president of the Humane Society of the United States.
Pacelle's organization says it wants to end factory farming. So Gene Gregory, president of the United Egg Producers, which represents most of the country's biggest egg farmers, used to think that there was no point even talking to Pacelle. "Why would you want to have a conversation with someone who wants to eliminate your business?" he says.

These days, though, they're not just having a conversation; they're allies, walking shoulder to shoulder into offices on Capitol Hill, asking Congress to approve new rules for egg farmers. They spent much of this past Tuesday in these lobbying meetings. But they arrived there from very different places — starting with breakfast. Read More

I'm Waiting For The Left To Start Calling Black Church Leaders 'Bigots'

Black church leaders have condemned the President's words on same sex marriage from the pulpit: Just days after President Barack Obama announced his support for same-sex marriage, pastors and priests around Maryland took to their own pulpits with their reaction– and in some cases– condemnation of the president.

Everyone who fits the progressives' White Anglo-Saxon Protestant stereotype of conservatives is referred to as a bigot if he or she disagrees with the President on SSM. So when will the left say the same of black church leaders? Obama is already trying to patch up the damage.
It's a similar story to that of Prop 8: the left zealously attacked the Mormons but said little of the black community who voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8.
Progressives found themselves in a quandary: if they criticized the black or hispanic communities they would look like racists. Their way out was to focus the entirety of their hatred onto Mormons, the safe group to attack. The strategy worked.
Will a similar strategy work again? As progressives celebrate the President's words on gay marriage (but say nothing of his refusal to add it to the DNC platform, so nothing at all has changed) how will they handle the voices from the black community who are criticizing the President's hastily-organized stance? Will they try to buy off more preachers?

Dems Attack Romney Over Layoffs Made by Obama Bundler

Realizing that Obama's reelection is in serious jeopardy, the President's campaign today released a two-minute ad slamming Mitt Romney for layoffs made at a company controlled by Bain Capital. The ad is built around interviews with former steelworkers at GST Steel, a mill in Kansas City, who were laid off as the company collapsed in the wake of a downturn in the steel market. The ad is certainly gripping and emotional. It is also, however, completely wrong. 

The company was shut down in 2001. Romney left Bain in 1999, long before the plant closing, to run Winter Olympics. Two years is an eternity in the business world. Blaming Romney for decisions made two years after the left the company is at best disingenuous.
However, there was a political power-player serving as a director of Bain at the time of the company's bankruptcy and layoffs--Jonathan Lavine. Lavine joined Bain in 1993. He is currently Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer. He is also a major bundler for Barack Obama, raising between $100-200k for the his reelection. While we don't know the specific role Lavine had in decisions regarding the bankrupt company, he certainly had more influence than someone who had left Bain two years before.
Perhaps Obama should use some of Lavine's donations to help the steelworkers featured in his ad.

French voters are learning that their newly-elected Socialist president, François Hollande owns three homes on the French Riviera, according to the Daily Mail:

France's new Socialist president owns three holiday homes in the glamorous Riviera resort of Cannes, it emerged today.
The 57-year-old who 'dislikes the rich' and wants to revolutionise his country with high taxes and an onslaught against bankers is in fact hugely wealthy himself.
His assets were published today in the Official Journal, the gazette which contains verified information about France's government.

Hollande's "one percent socialism" comes as a surprise to much of the French electorate, to whom he sold himself as a common man with empathy for their economic circumstances.
Once again, socialism proves itself a luxury good.
Not surprisingly, the Agence France-Press news agency describes Hollande's assets as "modest."
